Alright, we know some people may not have heard of this fast trending event, and some may have heard of it, but were not sure what it was all about. Let's check it out! What is NaNoWriMo? NaNoWriMo is the short acronym for National Novel Writing Month which begins November 1st and lasts through November 30th. The challenge is a test of writing skills and stamina to complete a whooping 50,000 words before 11:59 p.m. on the last day of the month!
National Novel Writing Month. org describes the event as "a fun seat-of-your-pants approach to creative writing." And we agree! It is also a way to meet new writers online and in person. Check with your local libraries to see if you have a NaNoWriMo group, start a group with your writing buddies or sign up at www.nanowrimo.org online.
Signing up with NaNoWriMo online gives you tools to track your progress as well as pep talks and support. This event is free and open to anyone who is considering writing a novel. Most of all, it's just plain fun to put your writing skills to the test and do what we do best...write!
