Author Interview- Fall in love with Urban Romance with Author LAS

Welcome to Untamed Publishing's Author Interviews! As a company that caters to the self-published and independent author, we want to highlight and support indie authors. There is a vast array of talent amongst us, and here's the opportunity to connect the readers to their next favorite author!

This interview features, Author LAS. Let's get to know this up and coming author and fall in love with Urban Romance!

Welcome to UP author interviews, LAS! Please tell us a little about yourself.

I'm a wife and mom from Queens, New York - Far Rockaway to be exact. I'm of Caribbean descent. I've fought with writing for a long time. I finally decided to have at it.

And of course, we agree with that decision! Please tell us the reason you decided to become a published author.

I had a story brewing for about 7 years, I decided now was the time.

Congratulations on taking the steps to become a published author! What genres do you write or wish to write?

My debut novel is an urban romance that takes place in my hometown of Far Rockaway.

Let's get to know more about LAS as an author. When it comes to writing, are you a morning person or a night owl?

I write best at night, when everyone else is asleep.

Tell us a unique writing habit that you have.

Sometimes I need to dance the scene out, if I'm having trouble getting it on to paper. I'll play music that I think fits the narrative and actually dance for a bit until I'm ready to try again and sit down at the computer.

Now that is for sure a first I've heard. Dance it out! Speaking of uniqueness, what makes your writing stand apart from other authors?

My writing is riddled with ebonics (if thats still a term that people use), Caribbean idioms, light cussing, a dash of humor and a sprinkling of $10 words.

Would you like to collaborate with other authors on a book project?

Danielle Allen, an author I follow on IG, has a ridiculous sense of humor. I think a collaboration with her would be fun.

Name your top 5 favorite books by indie authors. Why are they your faves?

In the process of producing this book, I haven't had time to actually read. But I'm looking forward to sitting down with the works of LT Robinson, Olivia Linden, CP Patrick and Ricky Black.

Alright then! Her reading list is growing, authors! Now let's get into your books. Tell us about your current book project?

My current project is Chocolate Solstice, an urban love story. It’s a story about millennials who let their baggage get in the way of finding love. It’s full of miscommunication, misunderstandings and social media stalking - real life stuff. Chocolate Solstice is available for purchase at Amazon.com

If you were to write a book about yourself what would you name it?

The Misadventures of an ISTJ

Let's give the readers a little insight to who LAS is outside of writing and books. Outside of writing, what are your favorite past times?

I love to spend time with my husband and children. I encourage them to people watch and take advantage of the free entertainment. My daughter is into it, my husband and son, not so much. I also enjoy coffee, pizza and whiskey - in that order.

Hilarious! Hey, as an author, how can you not people watch? Authors understand, LOL. Tell us one thing about you that is a little known fact.

I never learned my multiplication table. God knows my mother would be mortified to know this. It’s a wonder I actually skipped a grade and finished college.

What is one lesson you’ve learned since becoming a published author?

This process has taught me that if you really want something you really have to put in the work. Nothing that’s valuable to who you are or claim to be, comes easy.

What is one myth about being a published author that you learned and would like to share?

One myth is that you’ll actually make tons of money. Ha! That’s funny.

LAS, it has been a pleasure to interview you, and we look forward to your future works. Please connect with the author and pick up your copy of her last release, the summer Urban Romance Chocolate Solstice!

Chocolate Solstice Synopsis

Summer love is quietly brewing in the urban beachtown of Far Rockaway, New York.

For Daniel Jacobs, a gift of yummy chocolate wrapped in a thick beard & six-foot frame, love and attention from women are seemingly a constant. Raised by his doting Caribbean mother and grandmother, he is one of the most well-liked and successful bachelors in the neighborhood. However, there is a secret void in his heart that he is desperately seeking to fill.

Asha Martin is a petite, curvy, quick-witted independent spirit. Her wounds from a bout of young love keep her heart guarded. She appears unbothered to most, but her disposition is actually a defense mechanism stemming from a traumatic childhood event. Her refusal to let love bog her down could possibly cripple her chance at something real.

When Daniel and Asha cross paths, their past secrets, present lies and future desires create a hot, sweet tale of summer love.
