UP OFFICIAL REVIEW

Institutionalized is a book that is long overdue for society. It takes a realistic view point into the personal, mental, emotional and financial struggles of both the incarceration and subsequent release of inmates from the penal system. The added layer to this book is that it also focuses on trials of maintaining a romantic relationship with a rehabilitated ex-felon through those struggles. The author sheds light from the perspective of the former inmate, Rasheed and his lover, Aubree.

The love between Rasheed and Aubree was undeniable and highly enjoyable to watch unfold. Their love story truly reeled you into them as we got to know these two characters. The author does a wonderful job displaying the mindset of a man transitioning from a criminal state of mind into a productive member of society. Through Aubree the essence of real love and living your best life is revealed through her testament of trying to find a balance of pleasing others and fulfilling her own needs and wants.

This story was a joy to read especially the timed shocked factors and the romance scenes. Whew! Some areas could have been explored more in depth to have a more thorough ending. Yet, it was still a solid and an enjoyable book and one that we recommend!

OFFICIAL RATING 4-STARS ****
